Interested in earning 50 Healthy Living points? Then join Healthy Living’s Slam Dunk Wellness fitness and nutrition challenge. Slam Dunk Wellness challenge is a fun team-based basketball inspired challenge that includes fitness and nutrition. Participants play a different team every day and score big – to boost energy and feel their best.

The Healthy Living Program for 2017 will be announced in March….get a jump start and earn 50 points now by participating in the Slam Dunk Wellness Challenge.


Challenge Details

  • Registration begins Monday, Jan. 9 and runs through Thursday, Jan. 26. Note: Late registrations are not permitted and all teams must be formed by Jan. 26.
  • You can choose to participate as an individual but are encouraged to be part of a team as this is team-based challenge.
  • Teams consist of 5 members.
  • Challenge begins Monday, Jan. 30 and is 6-weeks long, ending on Monday, Mar. 13.
  • Participants must log their activities on the Slam Dunk Wellness website or Slam Dunk Wellness mobile app each day.
  • Challenge goal is to score at least 240 points over the six-week challenge. This equals approximately 8 points per day, 5 days a week (Monday through Friday).

How to Score DAILY Points




30+ minutes of physical activity
Note:  Fitbits cannot be used for this challenge.


3+ servings of vegetables and 2+ servings of fruit


< 2 hours’ non-work/non-school screen time


Healthy breakfast within 2 hours of waking


2 minute time-out (3 times a day)


Flexibility (stretching)


Team workout or meal (with at least 1 team member)


Correct answer to Free Throw quiz question (based on tip of the day)

How to Score WEEKLY Points



3 points once a week

Strength training at least 2 times a week
Strength training exercises are activities that make your muscles work harder than usual and typically involve using your body weight or working against a resistance.  This increases muscle strength, size, power and endurance.  Examples of strength training are pull ups, pushups, using hand weights or weight machines.

3 points once a week

Core exercises at least once a week
Core exercises strengthen your core muscles, including abdominal muscles, back muscles and pelvis muscles.  Examples of core exercises are planks, crunches and bridges.

3 points once a week

New activity or sport at least once a week
Any activity or sport beyond your daily activity.  This is a great chance to do something new and different.  For example, if you are a daily runner, try running intervals.  Or, try something entirely different than you normally do, such as swimming.


Teams Details

  • Teams compete against each other 1 on 1 in a game, then move on to compete against another team each weekday.
  • Teams earn 2 points for winning, 1 point for tying and 0 points for losing a game.
  • The team with the highest point total at the end of the challenge will be the season winner.
  • In the event of a tie, the team with the highest average player points scored throughout the season is the challenge winner.

Shot Clock Details

  • To get credit for your shots, you must log your activity no later than 11:00pm the following day.
  • Monday’s activities must be logged by Tuesday, 11:00pm. Tuesday’s activities must be logged by Wednesday, 11:00pm and so on.
  • For Friday’s shots, you have until Monday, 11:00pm to log your activities.
  • The shot clock lets you know how much time remains to take your shots for that day.
  • Once the shot clock has stopped, there will not be an opportunity to backlog activity.

To earn 50 Healthy Living points, you must:

  • Register for the Slam Dunk Wellness challenge from January 9 through January 26 on the Slam Dunk page on the Healthy Living website. If you want to join or create a team after you register, click the Join/Create Team tab on the Getting Started page.
    If you do not register, you will not be able to earn the Healthy Living points. This is a requirement to participate.
  • Log your activity on the Slam Dunk Wellness page of the Healthy Living website or the Slam Dunk Wellness mobile app each day.
    NOTE: All activity must be logged onto the Slam Dunk Wellness page or app; any activity logged elsewhere on the Healthy Living website or Healthy Living mobile app will not count toward this challenge.
  • Each participant (whether on a team or not) must meet the goal of a total of 240 points (8 points per day, 5 days a week) over the 6-week challenge

If you complete the steps above, you can view your earned points on the Healthy Living website by March 24.

Slam Dunk Wellness Mobile App

Daily Emails from Slam Dunk Wellness

Employees that register for the Slam Dunk Wellness challenge will receive daily emails from Slam Dunk Wellness.  When clicking the links inside the daily emails, you will be directed to the Healthy Living website and will need to log in. In order to access the information, you will then need to click on the challenge link within the Healthy Living website. You can also access this same information on the Slam Dunk Wellness mobile app.


  • Each week an active participant’s name will be drawn to receive a Fitbit One.
  • At the end of the challenge, the participants of the top three teams with the most points will win their choice of a Fitbit One or a $100 Amazon gift card.
